The Old School House Gallery
The Old School House Gallery is housed in the beautifully restored 1863 Common School in Loch Street, one of Beechworth's many notable historic buildings. Celebrating its 147th anniversary in 2010, the Common School No. 36, also known as the Beechworth Academy, was the town's first school. The school was restored as a gallery by local residents, Sandra and Robert Godfrey in 2003.
The Old School House Gallery features art and craft by regional artists and craftspeople, a second-hand bookshop, and a large Tea Room that provides a variety of refreshments in relaxing indoor and outdoor environments.
North East Yarns members exhibit a range of products at the Gallery, from cable jumpers to delicate shawls and toy bears. They also have crafting supplies such as batts, tops, yarn and dyes, for spinners, weavers, felters and knitters available for purchase.
